What is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM)?

A Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) is an independent practitioner who has met the standards for certification set by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and is qualified to provide the Midwives Model of Care. The NARM certification process recognizes multiple routes of entry into midwifery and includes verification of knowledge and skills and the successful completion of both a Written Examination and Skills Assessment. The CPM credential requires training in out-of-hospital settings.

Eric:                                                                                                                                 Sue Smith delivered our first child on 01-28-2001. She and her staff made this experience more wonderful than I could have imagined. I would recommend her and her wonderful assistants without hesitation to anyone seeking homebirth. Not only is she great with mom and baby, but really makes dad feel confident and involved as well. We will be seeking her services for every future addition to our family. Thanks for everthing Sue!

Sandi:                                                                                                                       Meeting Sue was a wonderful experience for me. I have had many bad experiences with doctors and OBGYN's who did not listen to me but instead rushed through my exam and breezed through any questions, they never made me feel comfortable. Sue on the other hand was so sweet, and warm and loving, I felt at home right away. I have to say, never have I walked out of an exam with such a feeling of comfort and I now look forward to the future when Sue can assist me in my hopes for a homebirth/waterbirth.

Deborah:                                                                                                                      After a terrible hospital experience with my first child, my husband and I decided to deliver our second child at home. Sue and her assistant midwives welcomed our son Adam into the world in June of 2002. Throughout the pregnancy, the labor and the delivery, Sue was a quiet, strong and calming presence. My labor was wonderful! Her faith in my ability to labor as nature intended was exactly what we had been looking for. Our faith in her abilities is tremendous. She will undoubtedly be here with us for our next birth.

Sue is competent and qualified. She's cool under pressure and has a level head. I would recommend her to anyone seeking homebirth. Had it not been for our move to NH, she would be my midwife of choice to

deliver the rest of our family at home.

Thanks, Sue!
